Female Labour Force Participation Rates in Assam: Trends, Composition and Determinants

In India, since the 1970s, there is a declining trend in female labour force participation. Given fast economic growth, fertility rate and rising women’s educational enrolment past few decades, this decline puzzling. Assam not an exception to of participation (LFPR). This study attempt analyse patterns determinants LFPR during period from 2004 2011. The analyses are based on National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) unit-level data three rounds employment unemployment surveys. article probes across age cohorts, education, groups, social status, etc. Probit regression models used latest available data. An important result is, status concerns measured by caste interacted with land possession impede women.
